HISTORY

The original Corinth Elementary School was a one room wooden building located near the site of the present Corinth Church. In 1924, a brick structure, consisting of five classrooms, was erected about one-half mile from the original building. This served the community as an elementary school with grades one through seven until 1957.
Construction of the present Corinth Elementary School was begun in 1956 and completed in 1957. A new addition was built on the the existing building in 1975. This addition consisted of eight classrooms, a library, office facilities, and teacher conference areas. The old wing was renovated in 1975 to match the decor of the new structure. Air conditioning and carpet were added to the school.

In 1997, a long-awaited building program was realized at Corinth. For the first time in modern history, every classroom is located in the main building. A wing was constructed consisting of eight classrooms and student restrooms. The existing building was renovated extensively. These renovations included new cabinetry, new carpet, and new heating and air-conditioning systems. An old classroom was converted into a modern computer laboratory. The infrastructure was put in place to network all of our computers. The cafeteria was enlarged to accommodate more students and to decrease the number of lunch shifts. The kitchen facilities have been upgraded and modernized.

In the spring of 1998, construction was begun on a multipurpose building. For the first time in the history of our school, a gymnasium is available to our entire student body.
